Ten-week challenge begins!

Two weeks ago, a dear friend of mine had an epiphany. She decided for herself, for me, for other friends of ours, that we'd all commit to a ten-week weight-loss challenge. There are many reasons that we are doing this, and there are many individual reasons we are doing this.

For me, it's a health thing. I want to feel healthier, sleep better, feel more energised, enjoy more sports.

I'd be lying if I said it wasn't an appearance thing too! There are certain fashions out there that are just not suited to my current body shape and I would love to step out in something a little more exciting than my usual uniform of black and jeans. That being said, I am well aware that this body size and shape is the body size and shape that I have been given genetically. It's pretty much an exact half-and-half mix of my parents. My gorgeous and wise mum and my... well... let's keep this family-friendly and just say my somewhat less-than-ideal biological dad. Pffft.

That's ok though. I'm pretty ok with this body. I think I'd just like it to be a tighter version. Less ripply in the thigh section, more ripply in the ab-section! (By ripples, I'm aiming for a chick-four-pack! HA!)

My body serves me well. It gives me a place to put food and drinks, and all my senses work reasonably well, discounting  from the need for glasses, and a self-diagnosed semi-deafness. Seriously, I can't hear you. So yeah, it works.

Apart from the small problem with clumsiness. I am lying here in bed right now, with my left foot iced and elevated due to an uncoordinated maneuver yesterday whilst moving house. Yup. I moved house. More on that another time. I can't deal with it right now. And I didn't really notice the unattractive shade of purpley-green until late yesterday. Or the lack of flexibility in my ankle. Or the strange pins-and-needles sensation. Hmmm. Doctor?

So, as I cannot go exercise this eve (I'd planned a long walk with a friend), I have been perusing health and fitness websites. And of course, the most interesting part for me has been the fitness fashion!

I think I'll have so much more drive to get out there exercising if I'm wearing something fabulous, don't you?
