Nothing beats a classic.
I have a friend, we'll call her L. Or Elle, that sounds nicer. Hang on, it sounds the same. It just looks nicer. Anyway, I digress. I have a friend, and her name starts with L. There.
We talk about all sorts of stuff. You know, the usual. Her husby, my work, my lack-of-husby, her work. Same old. And books. Oh man, do we talk about books! We're always suggesting books to each other, and when I say always, I mean we text each other at least once a week with a reading suggestion.
I've just recently bought a few of my favourite books of all time in classic Penguin format. You know, the orange and white and black cover. So classy. And so has L! And we didn't even talk about it. Weird.
I would love a library of Penguin Classics. A beautiful, relaxing library full of them.
Imagine a wall of these...

Oh, sigh, swoon.
Amazingly enough, it's not just books that look fantastic in the orange and white. Check out some of these awesome gifts featuring everyone's favourite literary brand.
Also... did you know that the colours were genre-specific originally? Orange for general fiction, green for crime fiction, cerise for travel and adventure, dark blue for biographies, yellow for miscellaneous, red for drama; and the quite rare purple for essays and love letter compilations, and grey for world affairs. (On a sidenote, if you ever, ever find a purple Penguin in a second hand book store, please, purchase it for me. Please. I'll double your outlay. I just want a purple compilation of love letters.) All the newly released Popular Penguins are being released in the classic orange, and that's ok with me!
You can also purchase your favourite Penguin as an art canvas for your wall. Think out of the box here, and get something perfect for the space you have. Perhaps The Big Sleep for above a bed, or maybe Dostoyevsky's The Gambler in a parlour. I would place my favourite, The Picture of Dorian Gray, in my bathroom of course, right opposite the mirror. Take that Dorian!

I also love these Penguin by Design books with fabulous covers by David Pearson. The lush colours and graphic patterns are beckoning me to pick them up and devour them!

Books are delicious. Ravishing. Amazing. And don't even get me started on that book smell. Mmmm.
I may be giving away a small prize sometime in the next week or so, and yes it may have something to do with books. So stay tuned, and keep reading!

Great gifts ideas, thanks. I was wondering about what to get my reading-loving nanna for Mother's Day!

Where on earth can I get a canvas chair from? I would get Pride and Prejudice and think of Mr Darcy, maybe whilst drinking a Pimms and Lemonade?

Haha, how did I know you'd want that book, Leah? You'd place your chair out by the lake, right? Waiting for Mr D to emerge from the lake, in a dripping white shirt?
(Excuse me for a minute, I need to go daydream for a while!)
