Wedding Fashion

So, I'm off to a wedding today. I heart weddings. They are so splendid, and I get to cry happy tears, and eat nommy food, and see all my gorgeous friends dressed up to the nines. Hmmm, I think that's what I love about weddings at the moment. The speeches, the formalities, the traditions; well, I'm not thrilled about those, but I understand the purposes that they serve.

But seeing my friends - I'm excited! Wow, seeing all my friends looking spectacular, stunning, gloriously happy. I think that could be the part I'm looking forward to most today. There's not much more beautiful than seeing girls who I know to be amazing on the inside, looking amazing on the outside. Sigh.

I'll be honest here, and say that I'm also a little excited about getting all frocked up myself. I didn't put much time into the outfit prep (well, I pretty much only started thinking about it on Wednesday!), but I did put in MASSIVE effort. I managed to pull together one of my chic-est outfits ever on a budget of 4 days and $50! I don't have exact pics and links to my pieces, but the below image gives you an idea of what I'll be wearing...

The dress was a BARGAIN. Truly, the bargain of the century. I was cruising the frock section of Myer on Thursday at lunch looking for inspiration - NOT looking for a dress! Visiting Myer turned out to be quite fortuitous. They just started a 5 day sale, with 50% and 75% off the already reduced price of a tonne of stuff. So, I obviously HAD to buy a Toni Maticevski dress (a classic, I'll wear it for years), which was reduced from $250 to $150, then 75% off that, so I got it for $37.50. SHUT UP! I know, freakin' amazing.

The shoes, jewellery, sunnies and nailpolish I already owned, and I scored the cream patent croc clutch for $9.95 at lunch today in Queen St Mall. Total win! Entire outfit completion for under $50, and amazingly, it's an outfit I'll wear again, and again, and again. To weddings, functions, balls, parties, racedays, you name it!

I am hesitant to post pics of the outfit here before the wedding, because every girl wants to make a grand impression, so I might wait to post this blog entry until just before I leave to pick up the girls and head out to Wynnum. As you are reading this, on this rainy Brisbane afternoon, I will likely be wiping a teeny tear from my eye, watching two people who love each other very much, stand in front of the people that they care about and respect, and proclaim that there's no-one they would rather be with for the rest of their lives. And that is the true beauty of weddings. Sigh. Swoon. Love.
