Feeling Thankful Friday : Drink it slowly. Enjoy it.

Earlier this year, perhaps around May - a time of BIG changes for me - I decided that I would make an effort to not just gulp down my daily cups of coffee and tea without a second thought.  That instead, I would enjoy the simple pleasure of sipping said brew from pretty tea cups and colourful mugs.  It was an act in patience and intentional slowing down more than anything else.  Much of my life feels like it is about filling, maximising, rushing, doing, cramming, so of course a little cuppa isn't always as practical as a giant mug... but it is, I've found, a lot more enjoyable.  I challenge you to try it and see for yourself just how much more pleasurable those sips become when they are taken from something more than your ordinary white office mug.

As a gift to myself, I recently added a lovely little robin's egg blue tea cup and saucer to my growing collection (and YES, you can drink coffee from a tea cup - who makes those rules anyway?) and it alone has taken my love of hot drinks to new levels. I love the colour and shape, and it truly makes me smile every time I take a sip.  Do you have any small pleasures that take the frantic rush out of your day and help to bring more enjoyment to your life?
