What a pretty party!
I’m still a little tired from hosting a wonderful tea party on Sunday, but boy, it was worth it – so much fun was had by all!
My housemates and I invited around fourteen people, just the perfect amount for our dinky little house. The weather was great and we opened the balcony doors right up to bring the overgrown jungle that we call a garden right inside. I had posies of fresh flowers everywhere in vases and pretty sugar bowls and milk jugs, and we placed tealight candles all over the place and hung citronella candles outside.
I baked the following treats which were very well-received:
- lemon cupcakes with pink lemonade frosting
A friend brought along a batch of little ribbon sandwiches with some delicious fillings; the lettuce, cranberry, turkey and pinenut ones were a big hit. We sipped on French Earl Grey tea from my mother’s beautiful vintage teacups, and also a fabulous iced tea concoction infused with plenty of fresh fruit, and of course there was champagne as well.
Everyone really got into the fancy spirit of the occasion, even the boys all made a wonderful effort, including wearing cravats, top hats, white on white, golfing caps and even growing dapper little moustaches for the day! I am so lucky to have such a good-looking bunch of friends, the girls looked so glamorous and elegant, and when it came time for the best-dressed voting, there was a four-way tie for the Lady of the Day! Big congratulations to Johann for winning Best Dressed Gent, and thanks for sharing your marshmallow prize with everyone!
It was a smashing success, and I definitely drank too many champagne cocktails, but nobody behaved badly, and everyone stuck around until the end (9:30pm!) to help clean up, and I ended up with a few leftover treats to bring to work.
What a day – can’t wait to do it all again!

LOVE those shoes!
